Sultan Bin Fahad

Sultan Bin Fahad (b. 1971, Riyadh) is a Saudi contemporary artist whose practice bridges memory, spirituality, and material culture. With an academic background in Business Administration, his unconventional entry into the art world informs a distinctive approach that merges conceptual depth with cultural reflection. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and photography, Bin Fahad explores the relationship between intangible memories and tangible cultural forms. His work draws heavily from the material and spiritual traditions of Saudi Arabia, reinterpreting historical narratives through a contemporary lens. Rooted in themes of repetition, sound, and movement, his visual language often incorporates symbols derived from Islamic traditions. Bin Fahad’s practice investigates the space between human interaction, faith, and reconstructed memory, inviting viewers to engage with familiar concepts in unconventional ways. His works often evoke layered journeys between what is remembered and what remains unspoken within the human experience. In recent projects, he has combined traditional metalwork with architectural forms, notably sculpting minarets that reflect on the relationship between individuals and Islamic urban landscapes. His work has been exhibited internationally, including solo presentations such as Qounot (Alàan Gallery, Riyadh, 2016) and The Red Palace (Riyadh, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi, 2019–2020), alongside major group exhibitions across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. His works are held in prominent collections including the Palestine Museum, Ithra (King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture), Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and the Royal Commission for AlUla.
